The PIER Seed Projects program—a collaboration between DESY and the University of Hamburg (UHH)—supports high-risk, high-reward research in the PIER Research and Competence Fields:
• Particle & astroparticle physics
• Nanoscience
• Photon science
• Infection & structural biology
• Theoretical physics
• Accelerator research
• Artefact profiling
Open primarily to early-career researchers (PhD candidates, postdocs, junior group leaders), this initiative fosters cross-institutional collaboration and helps build independent research profiles.
