PIER Workshops on Joint DESY and UHH Research Perspectives

In 2021, PIER hosted a remote workshop on “Future joint research perspectives of DESY and the University of Hamburg in the context of Science City Hamburg Bahrenfeld (SCHB)”. 120 researchers from the fields of biology, chemistry, data science, medicine and physics came together to discuss opportunities for joint research activities of scientists from DESY and the University of Hamburg (as well as further Hamburg research institutions).

As a follow-up to this initial event, PIER established an annual series of half-day to full-day workshops on joint DESY and UHH perspectives in specific research areas. The aim of these events is to foster discussion and exchange of scientists on possible joint research activities on Bahrenfeld research campus. The scientific program of these workshops is put together by 2-3 researchers recruited as workshop chairs from among the PIER Scientists, while the PIER Office takes care of all organizational aspects of the workshop organization.
